Yes, this is turning into a pure philosophy blog.

SO. I've been on a raw foods diet now for 2 months for health reasons. One of my favorite cookbooks is Gabriel Cousens' Rainbow Green Live food cuisine. Not only is the food great, but you feel good after you eat it. I have some influenced recipes on my other blog (www.karensrawkitchen.blogspot.com)

Anyway, the first half of his book is all about different diseases/ailments and how raw foods can cure them. I don't know if that's necessarily true but that's the assertion. The guy is an MD so I don't know whether that makes him more credible or less so. His main premise, as I ascertain it, is that the majority of people have fungus living in their blood. Apparently the way he developed this hypothesis was to take a 'field microscope' with him all the time. The craving for sugar and sweets -according to him- is due to the needs of the fungi. The waste of the fungi, mycotoxins are what he claims to cause most ailments.

I started thinking about this. Last year, I kept getting mushrooms popping up in my yard. Not 'toadstools' but 'stinkhorns'. They are nasty and gooey and stink to high heaven. My dog loved to gobble them up. Disgusting. So I started to research the whole 'mushroom' thing. Apparently the mushrooms are just the 'fruiting body' of the mycylium. The main part of the mushroom is tiny hair thin (or less) strands in the earth. So pulling them up is like picking the apples off a tree to try and get it to die. Not happening.

So what if we were to view this whole construct of 'reality' as a structure similar to this "mycilium web" ( for lack of a better term). If we and the events of our lives are the 'fruiting bodies' and the web connects us to all of the other fruiting bodies, then we have a biologically based visual for interdependence.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10658943855340852379noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637790482623412495.post-32818887417626295772010-06-30T11:32:00.000-06:002010-06-30T11:32:44.659-06:00Still into love... More so than ever actually....I just started another blog called 'News from the Water' and realized that the content totally fit this blog as well.

The news was
' Use your Love as a Salve for your eyes'.
When I hear this I think of my heart as a beautiful perfume box. Why do we often make love our agenda or attach agendas to it? Can't we just revel in it?

So sit back and think of something in your head that just 'sends you'. Is it a glass of really good wine? Skydiving? Singing? Things like this we can only enjoy on a limited basis. If you had unlimited access to these things (make sure that they are things you won't easily tire of) would you still limit yourself to one helping of divine ecstasy per week?

We can focus our love to be an expansion instead of a contraction. We can fill up our reality with it like a giant swimming pool. Then we can wriggle and smear it all over ourselves. Wow, that feels good! And when you feel that good, you know that you are helping everyone feel that much better.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10658943855340852379noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637790482623412495.post-67703451478828920452009-10-05T10:02:00.000-06:002009-10-05T10:02:36.270-06:00Pollyanna ? Nope.A friend commented about this blog to me the other day and the gist of her comment was that she thought this blog was a bit 'pollyanna-ish'. For the record, I'd like to address it.

When I see a middle aged woman wearing a shirt with Winnie the Pooh on it, I cringe and wonder about their level of maturity. Perhaps this blog is like that. Maybe that woman just doesn't care what other's think about her fashion sense anymore and just wants to look at a cartoon character that makes her feel good. Of course, I value peoples' opinions, especially those of my friends but just like that mushball woman, I want to feel good.

A while back, when I was having some chronic pain issues, I discovered that it is impossible for me to sing and feel pain at the same time. Again, one must throw convention out the window here, but with enough pain, that's not a problem. My theory is that the resonance (vibration) created in the body actually causes the firing neurons to loose their focus because the vibration feels so good.

Getting yourself into a 'love state' seems to work in a similar resonant way, although one is able to carry on without stares and potential stays at hospital facilities for the hopelessly happy. In fact one could easilly entertain even the most stodgy heads of state without an apparent clue to their cheerful demeanor or inner focus.

I saw and interesting post about a related practice where one resonates different vowels in different orders to achieve different results. It was on a video site called "Aquarius" but you can only register with an invitiation. (Know anyone who can invite me?) Does it work? I don't know but it's kind of fun!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10658943855340852379noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637790482623412495.post-30460114131008275062009-10-05T09:53:00.000-06:002009-10-05T09:53:03.059-06:00This is where it gets good......So, all of this theory and general unfocused love for strangers is well and good and basically a pretty good, easy start. Then comes your family. "Oh crap" you say, "they drive me crazy".

That is why all of the 'stranger love' is good practice -to lead up to the true challenge of loving and accepting the people closest to you.

Have you read "The Four Agreements"? It's a simple and great book about agreements to make with yourself to improve your own life. It's actually wonderful. At any rate, one of the agreements is " Agree not to take anything personally". Seems to me that this is, hands down, the hardest thing to do in any relationship.

To stop taking things personally is to remove ones' ego from the center of its 'micro-verse'. Everytime someone takes something personally one assumes that THEY are the only (or at least the MOST IMPORTANT) catalyst for anyone to do anything. The point is that one is constantly validating themselves as the center of creation everytime someone interacts with them. So every interaction is widening the division between oneself and everything that is assumed to be happening around them.

In a small way, this assumption is actually correct. Unfortunately, like a small child, the ego grabs onto it tight and won't let go. Many Buddhist teachings talk about the perception of reality as an expression of one's inner landscape ( talk about paraphrasing!). Sounds very esoteric but I am convinced that it is completely true.

I will never forget when I was in high school and was driving in a different part of town than I had even been before. I was looking for a store called "Penny Lane Records". When I drove past a center that I thought for sure would contain it, I saw a white sign with green lettering. This sign clearly said "PennyLane Records". When I turned around, and looked again, it was a sign for a laundrymat! I was so ready to find what I was looking for that I twisted the letters on that sign around in my mind to be what I expected.

When I first started saying " Honey, I love you" to my husband instead of "Ughhhhh!", I must admit it felt more than a bit trite. It still feels that way, but oddly he has never reacted to it like that. It has effectively cut the momentum of irritation. What a great tool!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10658943855340852379noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637790482623412495.post-77789175609710313242009-09-18T03:59:00.000-06:002009-09-18T03:59:12.927-06:00Join me in this, ok?So, I admit this love thing isn't originally my idea. Most (I say most only because I am not qualified to say "all") religions and spiritual paths really endorse love as a practice. "Love for God" or "Love for your fellow man" or even "Love for the other people who are from your same religion" are all touted across the board as a pretty good thing. If one was able to actually break free from one's egoistic viewpoint, then the energy of unconditional acceptance and simultaneous dynamic participation would be inevitable.

I want to really invite you to join me. I know it's hard to remember something like "LOVE" while you are working and running around town, going for a hike, or making your dinner and watching a movie. If you can step out of your normal mindset and just start talking to yourself in a different way, you are doing it. I started this idea just out of the simple method I listed in my previous post. " I love you walking lady". " I love you guy driving the green Honda". Like that.

So often our mental chatter is just pulling us deeper into whatever kind of neurosis we are into right then. Have you ever noticed what you think about when you are sick? I tend to think something like" Oh, I'm sick", "I feel like crap", "I can't deal with anything right now, I'm sick" and so on. Usually just spiraling myself down into a lot of suffering. In fact, even if I didn't start out sick, I can certainly tap in and tune in to being SICK. Participating in this can help you get out of a lot of mental wallowing, not even just around sickness but judgement of others and yourself.

If you do deceide to try it, I invite you to post your experience in the comments section. It's bound to make you feel good at least temporarily even if you just laugh at yourself for being silly ("I love you naked guy!")!It's also cheaper than any of those MLM vitamins, you'll never run out and you'll feel good at the drop of a hat.
That's my commercial for love. We need to flood the airwaves with 'em.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10658943855340852379noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8637790482623412495.post-83540490602100389202009-09-16T23:44:00.001-06:002009-09-18T03:35:39.132-06:00The Beginning, The Premise, The Hope....At a party a while back, I was telling a new-found friend about how I had reconciled with my husband, who I have been seperated from for 2 years. We got into a conversation about love and what a physically healthy, spiritually uplifting, and just fundamental aspect of life it is.
So, the next day I am taking a walk and I see a jogger on a trail. He is on a main trail and I am kind of on a little trail off to the side and I start thinking to myself " I love you jogger-man" while trying to generate as much love as I could for this stranger. Almost instantly, the jogger turned around and came down the trail that I was on.
Did my love meditation magnitize this jogger? Did my feeling good from generating love for this jogger cause him to get a 'love contact high' by proximity?
I intend to use this blog to document my experiences that happen in conjunction with my love meditations ( like the one mentioned above). Not only will I benefit from summoning love so often, maybe I can prove that circumstances will actually aid you when you have love in your heart. ( Isn't that a song?)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10658943855340852379noreply@blogger.com1
